What to expect when officiating a wedding.

Requirements for the Minister

Ministers must be 18+ and ordained through Ministries of Love. Ordination credentials must be presented to the probate court before officiating a ceremony. Unauthorized officiants face a $100 fine.


Wedding Ceremony Requirements

Marriage License Requirements

Marriage licenses are valid for six months and can be used statewide. Officiants must return the completed license to the issuing clerk within 10 days.

Couples must be 18+ to marry or 16–17 with written consent from parents or guardians. A judge may approve marriage for a 15-year-old under certain conditions. Marriages closer than second cousins are void, and same-sex marriages are legally recognized.

The officiant must endorse the marriage certificate, leave the duplicate with the couple, and return the original license and certificate to the issuing clerk within 10 days. The clerk will record the marriage and forward the documents to the secretary of health and environment.
